Elizabeth's story
My name is Elizabeth and I own a small cafe and coffee shop in Honomu, Hawaii. My parents were both chefs and I grew up in restaurants, it is where I feel most at home. I knew from a young age that I wanted to be able to curate a space where people could come together and enjoy our most common need- eating a meal. I also am an avid gardener and love growing food that I get to prepare and nourish myself and others with.
I have lived in the small town of Honomu for almost a decade and have been blessed to watch the neighborhood kids grow up and have felt very blessed to have them be a part of the cafe. They all know they can come to The Hive and “aunty elizabeth” will welcome them in and often spoil them with a fresh smoothie.
Many of the kids have helped in the garden and know the value of hard work and earning the things we want in life. I am so proud and happy that I have been able to be a good influence in these kids lives. For me these are the best parts of my job, creating a space that feels safe for my community.
