Mujeres De Savile Group

Sara is forty-five years old, and was recently divorced. She is a mother who has managed to raise her seven children (12 to 27 years old). Currently, the youngest son is in fifth grade, and the oldest have finished primary school. Two of Sara's children are married and she is a grandmother of five.

With only two years of formal education, she has managed to run a casual clothing and shoe store for fifteen years. Six years ago, Sara started her second business selling delicious cakes and tacos, which she sells on a street cart in nearby communities and in her own store at home. She feels motivated because the businesses continue to thrive successfully. Sara wants to increase the inventory of both businesses and is requesting her second Kiva loan. With the capital she will buy more clothes and shoes of new styles in bulk, and ingredients to continue preparing her delicious recipes.

Sara is the president of the Communal Bank of Puente de Amistad “Mujeres de Savile”, along with the other six who live in the department/state of San Marcos. They sell spare parts, run convenience stores, prepare fast food, and sell shoes and casual clothing. The “Microcredit Plus” program provides these women with monthly training (health, business, family, women) that benefits their overall growth. One of the topics that these women highlight is good business management and the prevention of women's diseases.
